St Mary's Mexican Food: A Legacy of Authentic Sonoran Cuisine
Since its inception, St Mary's Mexican Food has distinguished itself by upholding traditional methods that have been passed down through generations. A cornerstone of Sonoran cooking, masa—the essential dough made from ground corn—is prepared fresh every morning. This process, while time-intensive, is crucial to achieving the authentic taste and texture that makes dishes like tamales and tortillas unforgettable. Every bite reveals the commitment to quality that this restaurant stands for.
Fresh Tortillas and Tamales: The Heart of St Mary's Mexican Food

These soft, warm tortillas are crafted from scratch, ensuring every customer enjoys the unique flavor and texture that only freshly made tortillas can provide. The aroma fills the restaurant, enhancing the dining experience and setting the stage for a meal that celebrates the flavors of Mexico.
Alongside the tortillas, the tamales at St. Mary’s are equally revered. Hand-rolled with care, these savory delights encapsulate the traditional essence of Sonoran cuisine. The preparation is meticulous, as each tamale is steamed to perfection, with every bite offering a deliciously seasoned filling wrapped in soft, delicate masa. Such attention to detail makes every visit an experience to remember.

The service is not always friendly. Especially during the rushes. Which is most of the time. The food is delicious for the price. Always a go to for large parties and catering orders of mini chimis! Is a must! For all family parties and gatherings. Great prices by the dozen and yummy! The tortillas are super delish and fresh. But the breakfast burritos were average..nothing too special about them. A bit soggy for my liking. However; A Tucson staple worth a try. I highly recommend calling and placing the order to avoid waiting even longer.
This place is a little gem affordable prices with good quality. $5 burritos you can't beat and the red chile con carne is a must try. It was my first time and it won't be my last. Love this little place.
Take out: Really great for the price and a classic Tucson food spot. If you're looking to connect those city of gastronomy dots St Mary's is not to be missed. Breakfast Burro. Eggs, cheese, potato. Added beans, onions, cheese. 5.88$ Only 1 red salsa available. Parking is limited and tight. Take out only.
Before pandemic hit u were able to order your food n sit down n eat it. When they finally opened again inside they never put the tables back . So it's an orders to go. The food is excellent. There's always a wait but u can't complain because it's all worth the wait for true Mexican food. The beans taste like my grandma used to to make , delicious. All the food is well prepared n waiting time 10-15 minutes. They have a friendly staff n very attentive. They must have angels in the back preparing the orders. U never hear them complain service is but the best. Prices for the food is inexpensive n you get quality food . All worth the wait.
Went to try out their breakfast burrito with a foodie friend. We split the bacon egg cheese bean and chorizo burrito. The tortilla was nice and crispy! Great flavor and balance of ingredients! Very promising Mexican food! I would definitely come back and try out more of the menu! They were very busy! A local hot spot and also great bang for your buck! This burrito was just under 6 bucks and it includes their salsa. Fyi they are set up as a grab and go. Not really set up to sit down and eat.
